SSC COMMON GRADUATE LEVEL (CGL) 2014 – TIER 1 SYLLABUS
General Intelligence and reasoning:
This section is based on Figure Series, Critical Thinking,Problem Solving, Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Number Series, Embedded figures.
The syllabus of this section is below:
Analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc. The topics are, Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Semantic Classification, Symbolic/Number Classification, Figural Classification, Semantic Series, Number Series, Figural Series, Problem Solving, Word Building, Coding & de-coding, Numerical Operations, symbolic Operations, Trends, Space Orientation, Space Visualization, Venn Diagrams, Drawing inferences, Punched hole/pattern –folding & un-folding, Figural Pattern – folding and completion, Indexing, Address matching, Date & city matching, Classification of centre codes/roll numbers, Small & Capital letters/numbers coding, decoding and classification, Embedded Figures, Critical thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence,
English Language:
Through this section, a candidate’s ability to understand correct English etc. would be tested.

General Awareness:
This section will have questions on current events, India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining :-
History, Geography, Economic Scene,Culture, General Policy & Scientific Research.
Quantitative Aptitude: This section is based on questions on Numbers, Fractions, algebra, Time and distance, Time and work, Averages, Simple interest and Compound interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Trigonometry, Mensuration, Geometry etc.

Whole numbers, decimals ,fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentage. Ratio & Proportion, Basic algebraic, surds, Square roots, Averages, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Time and distance, Time & Work, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle and its centres, Triangle’s congruence and similarity, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Trigonometric ratio, Degree and Radian Measures, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights and Distances, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart, common tangents to two or more circles, Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons , Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped also read Shortcut formulas for Profit and Loss Questions. SSC CGL 2014 Tier II Syllabus:-
Paper-I : Quantitative Ability : 100 Questions -(200 marks)
The paper will be questions based on Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions, Ratio and Proportion, Average, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, relationship between Numbers, Fundamental Arithmetical Operations, Percentage, , Use of Table and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time etc. The complete syllabus of SSC CGL 2014 Tier 2 Quantitative Aptitude is given in PDF near the end of post.
Paper-II : English Language & Comprehsion : 200 Questions- (200 marks)
This section will be based on Error recognition, fill in the blanks, preposition, articles, Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Sentence Completion etc. The complete syllabus of this section is below: Spot the error, fill in the blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling/detecting mis-spelt words, shuffling of sentence parts, shuffling of sentences in a passage, cloze passage & comprehension passage, idioms & phrases, one word substitution, improvement of sentences, active/passive voice of verbs, conversion into direct/indirect narration.
Paper-III : Mathematics/ Statistics/ Economics/ Commerce: 100 questions- (200 marks)
Statistics for Investigator Grade-II, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation & Compiler in RGI.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Questions in Paper-I will be of 10th standard level,
Paper-II of 10+2 level
Paper-III of graduation level.
SSC CGL 2014 TIER III:
PERSONALITY TEST/INTERVIEW For posts for which Interview cum Personality Test is prescribed, the Personality Test/ interview will carry a maximum of 100 marks.
