AU Small Finance Bank Joins Hands with Sahaj e-Village

• AU Small Finance Bank announced signing an MoU with Sahaj e-Village for extending its banking service in remote areas through Business Correspondent Agent (BC) model.
• With this MoU, AU Bank will be able to further foster its mission of financial inclusion and greater customer outreach.
• As per the agreement, the BCs will act as an intermediary between the Bank and the customers in the interior locations where the Bank does not have a presence.

In a First, France Passes Law to Ban all Oil and Gas Production by 2040

• France’s parliament has approved a law banning all exploration and production of oil and natural gas by 2040 within the country and its overseas territories.
• Under that law that passed a final vote, existing drilling permits will not be renewed and no new exploration licenses will be granted. The French government claims the ban is a world first.

Ola Acquires FoodPanda India Business, to Further Invest $200 million

• Ola, operated by ANI Technologies Pvt. Ltd has acquired food delivery start-up Foodpanda India Pvt. Ltd from its German parent Delivery Hero AG in an all-stock deal that will see the ride-hailing major infuse $200 million in Foodpanda’s India operations.
• Under the deal, Foodpanda’s India business will be transferred to Ola in exchange for the latter’s stock. The share-swap arrangement and details of the transaction are still not disclosed.

Shree Saini from Washington Crowned Miss India USA 2017

• Washington resident Shree Saini crowned Miss India USA 2017. While Prachi Singh from Connecticut was declared the first runner-up at the pageant, which was held at the Royal Alberts Palace in Edison, New Jersey.
• Shree Saini is an anti-bullying activist. At the beauty pageant, cancer surgeon Kavita Malhotra Pattani from Florida was declared Mrs India USA 2017.
• Swapna Mannam, 17, from New Jersey was crowned with Miss Teen India USA 2017.
